The property that Wellspring Mountain sits on has been a place of respite and retreat for many a soul for the last thirty-five years. Once an orchard, then a wilderness therapy camp, and now home to Wellspring Mountain and the Eclectic School of Herbal Medicine. The mountain itself has the geographical name of Saddle Mountain and sits right on the Blue Ridge Parkway at its peak. Wellspring Mountain itself sits at the base of Saddle Mountain. It’s as if we are being hugged by what so many people refer to as Mamma Mountain. The forest is alive with many species of plants, fungi, and wildlife, and the cool creeks and streams provide fresh spring water to all her inhabitants. What a beautiful piece of earth that we have been chosen to caretake. Our goal here on the mountain is to share this wonderful piece of heaven with other outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers!

Our Vision

Wellspring Mountain is a botanically rich nature preserve, retreat and educational center offering rental space on a beautiful 5oo acre campus, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.  The land is protected by Piedmont Land Conservancy, and we have partnered with United Plant Savers as members of their Botanical Sanctuary Network.

Mission Statement: Wellspring Mountain exists to bring people and nature together through outdoor adventures, education, and team-building.

Vision Statement: Wellspring Mountain seeks to be a botanically rich sanctuary, for those seeking to live closer to nature, learn new skills, and connect with their community.

Keep close to Nature’s heart…and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.

"Every visit has been a positive experience. I'm proud to have participated in bringing music to your fair part of the world to help celebrate your opening season. I still brag about it."
